We at NeuroPsychCPS practice cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), a goal-oriented psychotherapy treatment that emphasizes a practical approach to problem solving. The goal of this empirically proven form of psychotherapy is for patients to recognize negative beliefs or mindsets and replace them with positive thoughts, leading to more favorable behavior. Before formulating a therapeutic treatment plan, CBT will generally begin with a comprehensive psychiatric or psychological evaluation including an in-depth clinical interview, personality scales, and pathology assessment.
Individual treatment sessions allow clients to work one-on-one with a trained therapist in a safe and confidential environment. Individuals are encouraged to explore their feelings, beliefs, and behaviors, as well as work through challenging or influential memories so they can identify areas for change, gain a better understanding of themselves and others, and work toward achieving positive change. Individual sessions can be as short-term as one to two sessions to as long as several years, depending on the client’s unique challenges and goals.
Group treatment sessions involve one or more therapists working with a set group of people. This gives patients the opportunity to share experiences, learn new perspectives, and experiment with new behaviors in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Neurorehabilitation treatment focuses on improving physical and behavioral functioning for individuals who have suffered from a neurological condition caused by a damaged nervous system, such as a concussion or a traumatic brain injury (TBI), stroke, brain tumors, or spinal cord injury. In addition to improving function, neurorehabilitation works to reduce symptoms and improve overall well-being.
Rehabilitation treatment helps individuals manage or overcome their personal, social, or psychological disabilities and pinpoint their career aspirations so that they may achieve maximum independence and integration into the working world.
Mental health treatment helps clients manage their disorders in a healthy, productive way. We provide support and guidance to individuals struggling with both mental and emotional challenges, in addition to offering diagnosis and treatment of mental illness.
Trauma treatment provides clients with the support and guidance they need to manage the emotional, psychological, and physical stress that often precedes a traumatic event, such as a life-altering accident, the sudden death of a loved one, an act of violence, or a natural disaster.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a powerful new psychotherapy technique which has been very successful in helping people who suffer from trauma, anxiety, panic, disturbing memories, post-traumatic stress and many other emotional problems. Until recently, these conditions were difficult and time-consuming to treat. EMDR is considered a breakthrough therapy because of its simplicity and the fact that it can bring quick and lasting relief for most types of emotional distress. EMDR is the most effective and rapid method for healing PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) as shown by extensive scientific research studies. Dr. Doria is specifically trained in EMDR, approved by EMDR International Association.
